flashback: pisay 96 streetkids christmas party

it’s been more than a month since we’ve had any updates concerning our ongoing projects. so here we go.

albert camacho bookdrive: we’re still in the process of pooling books and selecting the beneficiary for the drive. so kung may pahabol pa kayong books o suggestions na beneficiary schools, sige lang at magsabi kayo sa kinauukulang mga partido.

concert sa bilibid: a tentative date has been set (sometime in july). the remaining things that we still have to worry about are manpower (magsabi kayo kung makakapunta kayo) and transportation (shout out to jeff galan. hehe). arrangements concerning other aspects of the project are being handled by other parties already. as always though, any help would be much appreciated. just say so.

and as a bonus, here’s the slide show presentation of the streetkids christmas party held in up diliman last december. para maipakita naman natin ang isang project na natapos natin ng maayos. enjoy. :)

batch 96 invades the airwaves

the RockEd radio program for the evening of sunday, june 10, played host to batch 96’s own jonas castelo, joey climaco, don salvacion and markku seguerra. and for about an hour and a half, a lifelong dream of being  heard on air was (somewhat) fulfilled. almost as important, the concerned individuals managed not to make complete fools of themselves (or at least, not too much). whatever the case, we can all heave a collective sigh of relief and give out a cheer of congratulations for our batchmates. kahit na nga ba di kayo nakatugtog sa radyo, narinig pa rin namin kayo.

jonas, joey, don and markku would however like to apologize for not being able to greet anyone during the duration of the broadcast. they also thank everyone who tuned in, texted in comments in the middle of the broadcast, and generally showed any interest and offered their support. ang tagumpay ng isa, tagumpay nating lahat. whatever. let’s hope the next broadcast would involve some music though. sayang naman yung boses ni jonas.

come sunday, june 10, pop ratio’s dreams of being heard on air will come true. they, however, will not be playing their music. rather, they’ll be guesting in NU 107’s RockEd radio. they will not be on air as musicians, but as doctors, an experienced and unexperienced individual (take your pick as to who fits which bill). the topic: sex. go figure.

it may sound interesting for you. it may not. but it’s bound to be a riot hearing your batchmates talking about something they’re genuinely interested in, not really experts in, and basically just making fools of themselves on air. don’t miss it. sunday, june 10, 8pm. NU107 RockEd radio.

Dingdong Onstage

We’ve seen the movie but we haven’t seen it on stage. And now we have this one time opportunity to do so.

This Friday, May 25, 8:00 PM, Wedding Singer the Musical will be playing at OnStage, Greenbelt 1 in Makati. And who should be in it but our very own Dingdong Novenario. Watch him be a part of this romantic comedy about heartbreaks, weddings, and finding someone to grow old with.

Congrats, Joy!

Congratulations and best wishes to Drs. Joy Burgos and Rey Dago-oc who got married at the Barasoain Church in Bulacan last May 12.

We all remember Joy as a smart and quiet young lady who’s always hurrying along the hallways of our beloved Alma Mater. Now she’s blossomed into a pretty doctor who in a few weeks, will be leaving for Pennsylvania with her husband to continue to practice medicine and maybe start a family of their own.

From everyone in the batch, Joy, all the best.

Book Drive Launch

Rocked + Pisay '96

This Saturday, May 19, is our official launch for the upcoming book drive, a joint event with the election–related concert in the poster above. In partnership with Rock Ed Philippines, we hope to collect a good number of books that we in turn will be forwarding to our beneficiary schools in the coming weeks.

Bring books, bring friends. Let’s have a fun night of music and partying, just like last time. Saka syempre tsismisan. Hehe.

Pisay ‘96 Radio Episode 4: Usapang Lasing + Pop Ratio @ BL_E Without U

Pisay '96 party!

Last May 11, we had a soft launch for our Pisay ‘96 Book Drive at the BL_E Without U Bar with our band Pop Ratio doing some songs. Yes, this is the same project as the internally nicknamed “Albert Camacho Book Drive.”

The turnout was surprisingly good with several batchmates (plus friends) making it to the evening’s events, especially with the presence of some who pleasantly surprised us with their sackful of books (ikaw yun Ispok!) and humanely–touching ideas (at ikaw yun Jao!).

The fun night started with the almost–impromptu Pop Ratio concert with Jonas, Markku, and Marc (Carlo Inting’s younger brother) playing some of their trademark covers, and then some. A very crude bootleg of their performance is this episode’s second track, recorded from a mobile phone with all the ambient noises included, free of charge! (Syempre dahil sa sobrang gigil putol na agad yung string ng gitara ko, pero okay lang kasi hindi naman ako rinig sa recording, hehehe. –Markku)

The night’s second part was a never–ending videoke fest and party, better explained through BryMac’s photos of the evening.

This episode’s main podcast includes several batchmates, in fact the most we’ve had since the very first episode. Pagpasensyahan nyo na kung masyado na kaming bibo sa pagsasalita, at limang san mig light na yata ang minimum ng lahat dyan eh, hehehe.

Seriously, we now have two projects in the pipeline, namely the book drive and the maximum security concert slated for sometime next month. We are working with Rock Ed Philippines for both projects to further maximize our resources and effectively reach our collective goals. For more details, please do listen to the podcast.

And yes, Episode 4a was actually recorded after Episode 4b. Go figure. :D

On May 19, we will be launching our batch’s book drive which has been planned for some time now, just in time for the beginning of the school year. In partnership with RockEd Philippines, there will be a concert to officially start the collection of book donations that we in turn will be giving to our beneficiary schools and communities.
